Art Dimensions & Dimensional Techniques2月18日 Art Dimensions & Dimensional Techniques.....the Vertical Analysis of ArtAfter years of practising art, artists will come to a crossroad to decide whether one should choose to challenge the Elements of Art or exploring cultural, historical or other contents. The situation can be more complicated when the Elements of Art & Contents are overlaping each other. As I have chosen to challenge the Elements of Art, the situation will be even more demanding to apply the developed new art concept into painting(2D), into sculpture or installation(3D) or a moving procession(kenetic/performing arts ie 2D, 3D & 4D).
Applying the Elements of Art to appreciate & analyse the piece of art will always lead to some missing points as the Elements of Art seem unable to cover the many forms of art. After years of research on Art Dimensions & Dimensional Techniques, I have come to a point that the 'Elements of Art' is the horizontal analysis of art & one needs to know the 'Art Dimensions & Dimensional Techniques' as the vertical analysis of art to make the appreciation & analysis more complete. The Art Dimensions & Dimensional Techniques are the unexplored fields of art.
As Art Dimensions carry in many fields. I can only use oil painting as a medium to explore into the future of art development as the easiest manoeuvre. Painting itself has its limitation on application but saying painting is retrograde reflects one's lack of talent to create. The talented will use the Elements of Art and the Art Dimensions & Dimensional Techniques to create a new art concept which can be applied through painting, sculpture, light, sound installations etc. To show you the point, the cubism is an art concept which can be applied to painting & sculpture skilfully executed by Picasso.
I used to hear the statement of 'Art is Dead'. How can it be? The combination of the 'Elements of Art' & 'Art Dimensions' can be used to create millions of new art concepts. It is just like the millions of the difference of human faces.
The western artists apply the Elements of Art to appreciate & analyse art whereas the chinese artists will analyse art in a very philosophical way & mostly it is difficult to explain in words. It is obviously a very different perspective. With the Art Dimensions & Dimensional Techniques as the vertical analysis of art, to appreciate & analyse art will become more in detail & in depth, be it in western or chinese art.

18th Feb 2008 5月8日 The Power of Art - 22th April 2007Having learnt the techniques to create a new perspective into art will enable the person's ability to achieve the cutting edge position in this highly competitive world.
The joy of practising art is when you have acquired the techniques to create a new perspective into art. This is when you can switch from renaissance style to fauvism, to abstract works and then are creating new art concept by using concept on sound, time, space etc. Switching from perspective to another perspective will make you in a position to see thing from many angles. If the right perspective collaborates with the right technology, it will save time & money for many researchers in this world. So, the power of art lies on creating a right perspective, the technology will fit it if it is a problem. Artists need to adjust their vision to the future, far beyond just the visual aesthetic aspect if they aim to be more influential on the merit to mankind. There are also many by-products(discovery) when technology trying to fit the problem. The new perspective and the new technology will lead to many new discoveries that change how people see the world. Artists & scientists will explore into many unexplored dimensions which may be guided by concepts and it will be time that it is difficult to draw the line between art & science concepts. Now an installation on the concept of time can be displayed at one museum & interact with the same concept at the museum at another end of the world.
To learn to appreciate art is beautiful,
To learn to create a new perspective is wonderful,
To create & contribute to the merit to the mankind is meaningful.
Peter Loke 3月10日 Artist's Statement (18th Mar 2007)To make art is to create a new perspective into art which may develop into an art concept & aim to make influence rather than to be the copy cat of old art concepts. The artist will create his own set of rules & regulations. Every art work with different concept is no concept. Any art concept available in the textbooks is old concept & may be at least one & half year behind time. Creating a new art concept with the hope of developing it into a visual grammar for the art communities, one needs to learn to think & see out of the box. In this maneuver, the artist will acquire the techniques to create a new perspective. This makes art a very powerful tool in this modern competition. Artists & scientists will face the same thing in order to make a breakthrough in this world. Without acquiring this techniques, one may spend 20 years or his life time to create any new knowledge. I have spent years of research on "Art Dimensions & Dimensional Techniques." The images in this blog, I use oil paintings as a medium to explore the Art Dimensions & Dimensional Techniques, though it can stretch into sound, light, time, dreaming & illusion etc many other unexplored exciting & challenging fields. I love these challenges. Having learnt these techniques will enable the artist in a position to create any new art concept. In this blog, the images under Dimensional Techniques will showcase various applications which do not show the distinct artist's visual language. The images under Art Concept will show the latest development. All my artworks are not created with the 'content' in mind but on the focus on art concept. Peter Loke Yong Fun
